Look For Online Shopping Deals After Christmas

Now that the holidays are just about over, the online shopping deals are going to be more prominent than ever. If you’ve been holding off on a particular gift (whether for a loved one or for yourself), now’s the time to go for it and you know what they say: Go big or go home! Here are a few gift ideas that you can surely find on one deal web site or the other.

A Game Console

Games consoles aren’t just for playing games these days. On many, including the Wii, X-Box 360 and PS3, you can play DVDs (Blu-Ray, in some cases) and CDs. You can also watch Netflix Instant Watch movies on your TV via the devices. Plus, to say the games you can play on these devices have evolved quite a bit is an understatement. For example, the Wii is about more than sitting back and playing whatever game you’ve popped in you can exercise and play sports on the Wii, play music, even dance.

An E-reader

E-readers have sort of been around for a while, but only over the past few years have they really burst onto the scene. Convenient and technologically vogue, they’re a logical next step in entertainment, especially for avid and fast readers who can’t carry around a variety of reading materials wherever they go. There’s a number of e-readers you can choose from, the most popular of which are Barnes and Noble’s Nook, Amazon’s Kindle and Apple’s iPad. (The latter is technically considered a tablet computer with e-reader features, and is better if you’re looking for a computer supplement.)

A Digital Camera

In a time when everyone wants to share everything with everyone else, a digital camera is something everyone should have. One with the option to record video is preferable, as strange things happen all the time who knows? You might find the next big Internet sensation.

Headphones

Not the cruddy $10 ones you can find in any convenience store down the corner good headphones, the kind that will last a few years without losing any of their luster.

Gift Card

A lot of people look down on gift cards, shrugging them off as the gift of the lazy. Gift cards, however, are often the best route. In a way, they’re extremely thoughtful, because they show you want the recipient to have what he or she really wants as opposed to something he or she might want. You can either get a card from the recipient’s favorite store, or get a credit gift card, which can be used at any store that accepts that particular kind of card.

Any of these gifts would surely make anyone happy, so check out those online shopping deals to see what kind of savings you can find!

Online Shopping: The Good, The Bad

Hello out there in internet world, are you busy? Not right now, but in general. You probably are – everybody else is – and this is leading to unfortunate malfunctions in the wardrobe department: namely that we do not have enough time to keep up with fashion and actually go shopping.

Fortunately, the internet has helped in this respect, we no longer need to find the time to get to the town centres, walk around the shops, picking things up and trying them on, then standing in queue, paying for our goods, and then driving back home again (- what a palaver, it was hard enough just writing it, let alone actually do it!). Yes, luckily we no longer have to do that, because the internet is a 24/7 365 shopping centre, where it takes a fraction of the time to find what we are searching for.

Aside from the convenience factor, there are loads of reasons for shopping online, for example:

• Time saving: it takes a fraction of the time to shop online than it does to shop in the real world. There are no queues, no annoying cashiers having an ultra-slow day, and no shoppers getting in the way (- oh, and stealing the last item that you had your heart set on buying).

• You can narrow down your search and look for exactly what you want. For instance, if you need high heeled shoes in a size 6 made by a specific brand, you simply enter these search terms and press enter. This returns a list of exactly the shoes that you want. You cannot do this in the real world shoe shops; that is for sure!

• Price: as we said already, online prices are much cheaper, but this is not the only area in which you will save money. If you drive to your shopping centre, then you can save on petrol and parking; if you take the bus, then you can save on bus fare.

• No more painful feet: you can sit on your sofa and browse a whole collection of clothing and shoes. If you go to the shopping centre, you can walk up to three miles in one shopping trip, round and round and round and round! Of course, that is a long shopping trip, but it does happen (speaking from experience).

There are a few problems though, but these are easy to overcome:

• Sizing: you cannot, yet, try on your clothes or shoes online (although if they invent a special printer that can print clothes from protons, neutrons and electrons, we may be able to one day!). For this reason, you can face problems when the clothes arrive. When you find a shop you like, you can check review sites to find out if their sizing is accurate or if they are larger or smaller than standard, then buy accordingly. If the clothes arrive and they do not fit, it is no problem; you simply return them and buy the next size up or down. This is a little annoying, but is relatively rare.

• You cannot know whether a style suits you before the clothes arrive, because you cannot try them on. In shoe shops in the real world, you can wear the shoes and actually see how they fit, whether they suit you and if they look good. Again, this is easy to resolve by returning the goods and getting a refund.

The vast majority of online shops offer returns policies for such eventualities, so this should be no problem.

A purchasing application also includes choice of payment options. You can use different methods of payment to make online purchases – credit card, bank transfer, postal order, electronic money or cash payment upon receipt of goods. However, there are two payment options which are not acceptable for online transfers. Those are remittances and payment via SMS. Such payment cannot be undone or protested. So to avoid possible fraudulent schemes online retailers do not use them.

Products could be delivered by online store courier or through other companies that provide courier services. Other delivery options use postal parcel or packet, that is also possible. If you ordered photo, software license keys to it, ebook, etc., which belong to electronic goods, they will be delivered through electronic channels: e-mail or by access to the protected area of an online store.

Online Shopping – Huge Surge in Demand For Discount Code Directories

Pretty much anyone that shops online knows about discount code directories but what value do they have and how do they compare to cashback websites? Which of these two offerings delivers the best value for money and are there better ways of savings money?

The theory behind discount voucher codes goes back a long way; the most basic form of transaction heralds from the very first days of bartering. Traders openly accept negotiations on the pricing of their wares but there was always a profit margin involved and the concept still exists today. The major difference between coupons and bartering being that the vouchers have a fixed percentage or an additional incentive to get you to buy more. In most cases, a retailer will provide a reasonable discount on a loss leader or high label product. Once at the retailers website, the online shopper will be encouraged to add even more deals to the bundle. A classic example of this practice is Amazons “People who bought this also bought…”.

Although not strictly a discount code, the most sought after vouchers tend to be those offering free delivery on large consumer electronics. We live in an age where looks and functionality are the ideal and most online sellers target the upsell – “for a few more pennies you can have the best thing since sliced bread”! Convenience is key; whilst some shoppers still experience the excitement of travelling to a store to view and touch an lcd TV, the constraints placed on our time makes online shopping a more viable option.

Cashback websites offer shoppers a different way of saving money and the idea of getting money back every time you buy can be a very powerful incentive. Money back offers involve the shopper buying a product only to receive a percentage of the full price delivered back to a holding account. This money can then be used of reduce the price of future transactions or transferred back to the shoppers bank account.

The obvious advantage offered by cashback deals is there is no requirement for the buyer to do anything; simply shop and the retailer will credit a percentage of the sale price back to you. The main difference between this model and discount codes is value. Most retailers will offer a percentage larger saving through their discount codes, although this may not always be the case. A prime example of the most heavily discounted goods comes in the form of end of range stock which the shops are keen to shift before new lines arrive. In this case, some shoppers have reported savings of over 90%!

Each of the methods detailed above brings shoppers the chance to make some amazing savings – the discount and coupon code industry has seen meteoric growth in traffic and shoppers using dedicated directories that list vouchers from thousand of retailers. It would appear the types of websites offering these deals have an almost guaranteed future.

Whichever route you take, the arguments are pretty compelling. In a day and age where we’re trying to get the most value for money, discount vouchers, either electronic or physical, and money back websites offer shoppers the chance to make significant savings. Are you using them?
